ABC 7 News Story on Chicago Police Officer Dooring Case

Last night, ABC 7 news in Chicago broadcast a story on the case of Amie Zimmerman v. City of Chicago.  As reported by legendary newscaster Ron Majors, the case stems from a bike accident earlier this month that took place on Taylor Street. Amie was travelling eastbound on Taylor just past Ashland.

As Amie was riding down the marked bike lane on Taylor Street a Chicago Police Officer opened the door to a marked squad car directly into Amie. This caused Amie to lose control of her bike and fly over her handlebars. As a result of this, she landed onto her head. This accident caused Amie to suffer major injuries including a laceration on her head that required stitches, a severe concussion, and a spinal injury. She continues to receive medical treatment.
