GORE Ride On Brake Cables Recalled

An international recall has been issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada. Ride-On Bicycle Brake Cables manufactured by W. L. Gore & Associates Inc., are known to detach from the brake levers causing the brakes to fail and riders to crash.

The recall includes GORE(r) Ride On(r) Low Friction System brake cables for road bikes and GORE(r) Ride On(r) Professional System brake cable for road bikes. These recalled brake cables were sold in specialty bicycle shops, sporting good retailers, and Amazon.com, along with other online retailers. They were sold between January 2008 and January 2012. Approximately 10,000 brake cables have been recalled. Consumers should stop using the product immediately.

Keating Law Offices has significant experience and success with product liability cases and injuries resulting from bike usage. In 2011 the firm recovered a substantial settlement for a Canadian mountain biker who was injured when the rider's fork failed upon landing a jump.
